Research is just part of the fun. Our Friends of the RD Pike Building group has done extensive research and continues to do so! Part of those efforts has shown us that previous hatchery superintendents and their staff developed and oversaw the gardens and grounds on the property. Thus begins our hatchery grounds restoration adventure!

We have been able to determine through writings and photo evidence, that Canna Lilies, Gladioli, roses and several other flowers, shrubs and trees were planted in these grounds. As a testament to the past, we are working on restoration of some of those gardens with original plants and flowers. We hope you will stop in from time to time in the coming years and see what our intrepid crew is undertaking!
We definitely made some progress! It's a long process but we have a fantastic crew of volunteers. Click the images below to view full-screen.
