About the event
On Saturday September 14th, “Coffee at the Creek” will be hitting the road! From 9 to 11am, we will gather at the Bayfield State Fish Hatchery. We will hear a great deal more about R.D. Pike, the National Historic building named in his honor, and the efforts currently underway to renovate and restore the building and repurpose it as an educational and historical touchstone for our surrounding communities and visitors from far and wide.
Robert Nelson and Todd Berg, board members of the 501c3 non-profit group “Friends of the R.D. Pike Building” will give a presentation on the history, the intrepid people who worked and lived here, how the fish culturing operations have evolved in the ensuing years, and the project the group has embarked on to renovate and protect this iconic building and her grounds. Artifacts, interpretive signage and other fun history will be available for review.
Bring a chair, come see about a worthy effort to extend the cultural corridor that exists all over the peninsula and have a good cup of coffee with us as history re-awakens! Take a 140 year walk back in time with us during this fun presentation. We look forward to you joining us!
Delta Diner coffee will be served, and extra special this year, Nancy Ericson (from Ericson’s Family Farm) is making the scones, muffins, and her famous apple donuts!
